For generations, Japantown has given our community something essential: a place to belong. Today, one of those places is at a crossroads.

Through incarceration, displacement, redevelopment and generations of change, our community has endured the loss of place while holding tightly to culture, connection and belonging.

Over the past two years, KOHO has created a new place to come home to.

The KOHO Co-Creative Arts & Culture Hub has grown into a vibrant home for artists, cultural practitioners, young people and community—hosting more than 100 events and welcoming thousands of people through its doors.  

Now, the future of this home is uncertain.

Here, generations gather. Culture is lived and shared. New connections are made, new traditions and expressions of culture are taking shape, and a new generation is building a deeper sense of identity and belonging, helping define what Japantown will become.

Rather than simply tell you about KOHO,
we invite you to experience it.

Step inside the stories, people, and possibilities that have brought the Hub to life—and join us in imagining what it will take to create a lasting home for our culture, our community, and generations to come.
